Death of Edward DEVLEN, 83yrs, son of Conell DEVLEN and Margaret DEVLEN (nee SMIDDY) ,July 14, 1954

Edward DEVLEN, 83, lifelong resident of this community, died Sunday afternoon, July 11, 1954, at the home of his grandson, Harold PULLEN on the Devlen road, Groton, R. D. 1, following a long illness.

A native of Summer Hill, he was born Aug. 8, 1870, son of Conell and Margaret SMIDDY DEVLEN. He was a widely known farmer, retiring just a few years ago.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Inex CORNWELL and Mrs. Ruth CRUTHERS of Locke, Mrs. Gladys LOCKERBY, Lansingville, Mrs. Celia PULLEN and Mrs. Irene HOLDEN of Groton; four sons. George, Clarence, Laurence and Harold of Groton; a sister, Mrs. Anna NILES of Cortland; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the home of Robert J. BOOTH, 110 Elm street. Rev. Bernard DeGraw, pastor of the Locke Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Groton Rural Cemetery.

Bearers were George DEVLEN, Clarence DEVLEN, Laurence DEVLEN, Harold DEVLEN, Harold PULLEN and Edward WESTLAKE.

BLOOMINGTON -- Jennifer Lynn Koons and Jared Glen Smiddy, both of Bloomington, were married at 4 p.m. June 7, 2008, at First Christian Church, Clinton. The reception was at Madison Hall, Clinton, followed by a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Her parents are Kenneth Koons of Clinton, and the late Julie Koons. His parents are Debra (Stan) Dixon of Carthage, and the late Glen Smiddy.
Jessica McCleary was matron of honor and Jennifer Haas was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Megan Smiddy and Stephanie Smiddy, and Isabella Crang and Julianna Crang were junior bridesmaids. The flower girl was Rachel Aikman. Terry McConnell was best man. Kyle Koons, Nick Troutman, and Micah Otey were groomsmen. The ushers were Scott Smiddy, Mark McCleary, and Mitchell Neally. The ring bearer was Nathaniel Aikman.
The couple received their master of physical therapy degrees at Maryville University in 2007. They are both physical therapists.
The couple resides in Bloomington.

at 6 p.m. The Rev. I. Butterworth offi ciated. The bride was Isaetta. daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Smiddy. Home Hill. aM the bridegroom was Roy, son of Mr. and Mrs A. Flowers, Boundary -street. Souui Townsville. 

The bride wore a charming gown of lace, ankle length, daintily made to fit her figure. An exquisite long veil fell softly into a train. A coronet ot or of the head. She carried a bouquet of wax roses and trallinga of fern. The bridesmaid. Miss J. Porta, wore a becom ing frock of pink tulle, over taffeta, hav ing a shon bodice and a full skirt. Her headdress wan ot pink tulle, ftnterted oft with a bow to match. Her bouquet was of pink gerberas. Mr C. E. Flowers supported the bridegroom. At the reception the mothers of the bride and groom re ceived their guest?. The happy couple left later for a short honeymoon Mr and Mrs R. Flowers will reside in South Towns ville.
